If you’re new to electric vehicles, the terminology around charging can be confusing. Level 1 charging uses a standard household outlet and is the slowest option, typically adding just a few miles of range per hour.
Level 2 charging, which requires a dedicated 240-volt circuit, is what most home installations use. It can fully charge most EVs overnight and is the sweet spot for daily convenience without a major electrical upgrade.
DC fast charging is reserved for public charging stations along highways and can take a battery from near-empty to 80% in well under an hour, though it’s not recommended as your everyday charging method due to long-term battery wear.
